Arthur Broadhead......aged 31......National Fire Service

George Harold Colman......aged 56......Deputy Head ARP Warden.

Halbert Ord......aged 66......Firewatcher.

Just as George Colman set out on his first patrol from his Civil Defence Post, codenamed D-1, a stick of bombs straddled the streets and Mr Colman was killed by flying shrapnel.
Halbert Ord's body was never found as it is believed he was struck directly by a bomb.
(His death was only recorded officially on July 10th 1942)
Arthur Broadhead was killed in the line of duty.

George Harold Colman was cremated at Lawnswood on the 4th May1942, the remains were scattered in the gardens of remembrance on the Columbarium Bay Y 492.
