Charlie was not supposed to be on duty that weekend but he changed shifts for a friend.
He left behind a widow and two small sons. Sadly, his wife died six months later leaving the boys to be looked after by family.
Charlie's name is on a memorial plaque together with his younger brother at Saint James Church, Mere Green Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
