The Baedeker Raid on York

Chatsworth Terrace

A general view of Chatsworth Terrace in the area of the bombings. The houses at the end of the road on both sides were destroyed and have been rebuilt in a different style and size.

Today, the slightly lower block of three replacement houses (No: 51, 53 & 55) have replaced the four wartime properties (No:51, 53, 55, 57) that were destroyed. No:57 no longer exists with No:59 just visible on the RHS of the cobbled Back Lane.

Bomb No:110 was responsible for the death and destruction in Chatsworth Terrace.
