The crew of Halifax DK243 (427 Sqn)

This Halifax took off from Leeming at 2125hrs. After bombing the target the aircraft was attacked by a Ju88 night fighter. While attempting to dive and escape the Halifax was hit by cannon fire which killed several of the crew. The order was given to bail out but only two members of the crew escaped to become POWs. The aircraft crashed at Wusterhausen, 3km south of Lubmin.
