The unfinished (German Stadium) was a megalomaniacal project designed by Albert Speer and was intended to be the largest stadium in the world, designed to hold over 400,000 spectators.
The stadium was planned to be roughly 800 metres long, 450 metres wide, and nearly 100 metres high.

On the 9th September 1937, Hitler attends the lavish cornerstone celebration in front of 24,000 spectators

Hitler makes a speech from the cornerstone to a crowd that appears to include a large number of Hitler Youth

A gigantic test grandstand was erected on a Bavarian hillside 40 kilometers away that had the same gradient.......just to test the acoustics and sight lines

Two wooden grandstands sections were erected with two different angles of inclination -- 27.2º and 30º respectively

On March 21st, 1938, Hitler, Speer and the other top Nazis came for an inspection
Units of the Reich Labour Service conducted gymnastics drills so the visitors at the top levels (some 80 meters away) could experience the view
Speer noted vaguely after the inspection that he found the view "more positive" than he had expected
Hitler's plan was that the Olympic Games would be performed for all eternity in this stadium

The "U-shape" of the foundations can be seen with the open end facing the Great Avenue
The Municipal Stadium has been included to show the enormous size of the planned German Stadium
The start of WW2 brought an end to any further excavation of the foundations.
