During the time of the American presence the Zeppelin Field was used by the military and US schools as a sports and entertainment venue.

The highlight of the Noris Ring (Zeppelin Field area) is the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) race which takes place each summer.
The competitors complete 82 laps of the 2 km track.
The best seats are on the Zeppelin grandstand where you have the clearest views of the race.

The U.S. military presence in Nuremberg began to decrease significantly after the Cold War ended in the early 1990s.
Most U.S. units were relocated or deactivated by 1992 as the threat from the Soviet Union vanished.
The primary reason for a final withdrawal was the reunification of Germany and the lack of a need for a massive forward-deployed force in central Bavaria.
