On the outskirts of Mathiatis, a small village situated a few kilometres to the west of the main Limassol - Nicosia motorway, is a British Military cemetery that is now all but forgotten.
Within the small enclosure, surrounded by a collapsing stone wall, lies the grave of a British soldier from the late 19th century.
This website will tell the story of what we know about this cemetery and its lone 'occupant'.
For more information on military cemeteries in Cyprus, Colonel David Vassallo wrote a book titled, "Who Was Sapper Brown?"
This is difficult to find in print but an excellent online 'flipbook' can be viewed by following this link (opens in a new window)......
