The crew of Halifax JD260 (158 Sqn)

This Halifax took off from Lissett at 2123hrs. It was hit by flak shortly after bombing in the first wave.
The wing caught fire and although the crew tried to extinguish the flames, the order was given to abandon the aircraft.
Before everybody could escape either the wing broke off or the plane exploded. Only two members of the crew escaped to become PoWs.
