The DDR - Revisited

Privall

Privall is the northerly end of the Inner German Border......1377km from the southern start point.
The image shows that the defences continued along the coast until close to Boltenhagen.....a further 25km.
This was to prevent access to the beach in areas close to West German territorial waters.

This is the point where the border headed to the sea and where it turned to the East.

The end of the border.........from the west, access to beach was cordoned off but, in theory it would have been possible to wander along the beach into DDR territory.

This is the point where West Germans would go no further.

To reach the Privall peninsula from Lübeck you need to cross the Trave by ferry.
